Evaluation of Patient and Public Involvement in Research
In 2006, a commitment was made by the UKCRC Patient and Public Involvement Project Group to support the development of the evidence base on patient and public involvement in research, contributing to work being led by INVOLVE. As a result, four evaluation projects have been undertaken:
- A critical assessment of the development of patient and public involvement in the UKCRC - lessons learned
- An evaluation of the process and impact of patient and public involvement in UKCRC advisory groups
- An evaluation of the People in Research website
- A systematic review of evidence on the conceptualisation, measurement, impact and outcomes of patient and public involvement in health and social care research
The first three of these projects have now been completed. During 2009, the Board Subgroup for Patient and Public Involvement oversaw the implementation of a number of the recommendations that emerged from the first two projects. Work that continues into 2010 will be led by INVOLVE in its role as lead UKCRC Partner for patient and public involvement.
Copies of the full reports and executive summaries of the completed projects are available to download.
