Patient and Public Involvement Strategic Plan
(2008-11)
The UKCRC recognises that patient and public involvement is essential to the delivery of its overall mission. Activities over the first five years included recruitment of patient and public members to UKCRC groups and the development of the People in Research website.
In April 2008, the UKCRC Board approved a three-year strategic plan to provide a framework for the UKCRC’s future patient and public involvement activities. A UKCRC Board Subgroup for Patient and Public Involvement was established to oversee its implementation.
The Subgroup was the mechanism for not only overseeing implementation of the Strategy on behalf of the UKCRC Board but was also the mechanism for raising any new issues with the Board.
During 2009 as part of a planned transition process the UKCRC transferred to a fully Partner-led model of operation. Work that continues into 2010 will be led by INVOLVE in its role as lead UKCRC Partner for patient and public involvement.
