UKCRC Regulatory and Governance Advice Service

The UKCRC R&G Advice Service is a UK-wide service that provides:

  • support for local advice providers, such as R&D offices, clinical trials units and local research networks
  • a route for handling complex queries e.g. those involving more than one regulatory issue
  • access to a range of web-based resources including tool kits and a new Q&A site

The service is supported by a network of regulatory and governance bodies, which are prioritising queries to the UKCRC R&G Advice Service in order to provide authoritative and timely responses. The Service is jointly coordinated by the UKCRN Regulatory Team and the MRC Regulatory Support Centre.

The diagram below illustrates the overall structure of local and national regulatory and governance advice provision in the UK and shows the importance of a joined-up approach.

The UKCRC R&G Advice Service has been piloted in Nottingham, Manchester, Scotland, Southampton, Wales and also in some Clinical Trials Units and MRC research units. For more information please see the report of the pilot project. The Advice Service was rolled out to cover the whole of the UK in April 2007 with a series of regional road shows for local advice providers.

Further information can be found on the UKCRC R&G Advice Service website and in the UKCRC R&G Advice Service leaflet.
